Summer Kiddie Crew

Summer was a fun time for my kiddos, a long break from school. Nevertheless, I wanted to make it memorable and productive for them. My Enzo and Vito memories of summer were morning deep in the pool, monkey bars at the park, and Mc Donald's Kiddie Crew.

Enzo had his first Kiddie Crew in 2010, he was only 6 years old. It was in Alabang Town Center. He was reluctant at first because he did not want to be away from his brother, Vito. But still, nothing beats a worthwhile summer workshop that kept him active and productive during the long, hot summer days. Indeed, the first year was a blast until it became a summer habit. Later on, he and Vito had Jollibee Kids Club Talent Camp too. Yes, you heard it right. They did both since these workshops lasted for a week only. Usually, Mc Donald's Kiddie Crew was first in the schedule then followed by the Jollibee Kids Club.

The joining fee was very minimal (few hundred bills) which includes shirt, cap, workshop cost, bag, an ID card with lace, meals for the whole duration of the workshop, and a certificate at the end of the week. It was 5 days, two-hour fun-filled activities; entertainment, educational games & activities for kids like dancing, singing, arts and crafts, and a working crew day. They had a chance to be behind the cashier or take-out booth counter, took orders from real customers, handed out change or swiped card from POS device, clean the table after a customer dine-in, and prepare their own burger meal. These activities made them appreciate workers in the restaurants. They became more polite and considerate. Enzo learned to bring his trash to the bin after eating his meal. Actually, I was happy to both workshops. The program activities aimed to build confidence, harness creativity, and teach the importance of hard work, discipline, teamwork, sharing, and responsibility. It was a job well done!

At the end of the workshop, the kids had to showcase their talent. I remembered Enzo always bagged an award after the workshop. The most awaited culminating event of the McDonald's Kiddie Crew was the Grand Graduation. It was held at SMX, SM Mall of Asia.
