Easter Eggs

Oh, I miss Easter back home, when my boys were all dressed up for Sunday mass and egg hunting, then family enjoyed a sumptuous lunch and afternoon deep at the village clubhouse.

Today is our first Easter without Enzo. We build so many precious memories based on these special holiday traditions throughout the years. I remember our first Easter in the sandpit, it was different. Though, Easter marks the most beautiful season of the year here, made-up Spring (the country is so rich they can fill up the city with imported blooming flowers)! A very short period where we can enjoy the cool breeze of after winter and incoming hot summer. With all of the wonderful colors and sweet scents of flowers and leaves everywhere, it does create an inspiring mood to paint all the Easter eggshells. And later, children can go and seek the colored eggs, and drop them in their basket. But no!! We don't have that in the middle east. Though, my boys are all grown up. They miss their fun tradition of Easter.

I am not a crafty mom but I am diligent to make my boys busy. #MyAhyaMemory I am sharing is one of my boys' activities in 2017. I gathered all the eggs in the kitchen, boiled them, and asked Enzo and Vito to remove and gather the shell in a separate bowl. I made them egg sandwiches. And they made an eggshell mosaic art.

How to make Egg Mosaic Art?

1. Gather all materials. Egg shells, glue, thin card board or oslo paper, brush, poster paint, mortal and pestle, cup of water and pointed tool (BBQ stick).

2. Get your saved egg shell from your kitchen (peeled from hard boiled egg or empty shell from fried egg). Rinse them with water and take off the membrane. You may use the pointy stick to take off the membrane easily.

3. Leave them to dry on a kitchen towel or paper.

4. Print or draw the design you like on the card board or oslo paper. Set them aside.

5. Crushed the dried egg shell using mortal and pestle.

6. Apply glue to the pattern on your card board then filled it with egg shell.

7. Once completed, us the poster paint in coloring the design.

How to make egg sandwich?

1. Prepare all the ingredients; hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, condensed milk, dry mustard powder, onion powder, salt, and ground black pepper. Set aside the loaf of bread, lettuce, and slice of cheddar cheese.

2. Place the eggs in a bowl. Mash using a fork.

3. Add mayonnaise, condensed milk, mustard powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Fold until all the ingredients are well blended.

4. Add the sweet pickle relish. Fold once more until the pickles blends with the other ingredients.

5. Transfer in a container. Refrigerate or you can use it immediately. Spread over the slice of bread. Top it with lettuce, and slice of cheddar cheese.
